Setting up a Ping with all servers

Post by itc-sh »

We used to have a very old version of Host Monitor on an XP machine, that was extremely simple to configure, but we've moved to the newer version, and I could really use some steps on setting up a page that displays the real time ping response from my servers. Where those that are offline are a different color and send an email alert. That is all I really need. I already setup my networks, and user accounts, but we're a two person team supporting a 24/7 shop and I really would like some how to's to help get me going with this. I searched the forums, but can't locate anything.

Thanks everyone.

You have used version 7? then updated to version 11?
GUI is the same, yes, some options added, a lot of new tests implemented, performance increased but GUI is the same. If version 7 was extremely simple to configure than version 11 is the same, its just faster. (so I do not understand what exactly problem you may have now)

Plus there are some new features, like
Test templates: http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/mfra ... #templates
Template Folders: https://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/mfr ... m#tfolders
Network discovery https://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/index-nmap.htm
I could really use some steps on setting up a page that displays the real time ping response from my servers.
Could you please explain what exactly means "page"?
Web page on your web server?
Page on HostMonitor web interface?
Folder in HostMonitor or RCC GUI?

You are using software for many years, for sure you know about Folders and View
https://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/mfr ... FolderTree
https://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/mfr ... #ViewsList
So you can place Ping tests in a folder(s).
If you already have 1000 ping tests in different folders among other test items and you want to see just Ping tests, create View for Ping tests.

Regards
Alex
