I configured Hostmonitor 4.42 to run automatically as a service on Windows 2000 Server Sp4. When I start the server, Hostmonitor appears to be running (from the services applet) however, it is not visible and is not running the tests. At this point, if I manually start Hosmonitor, it gives me an error that it cannot activate RCI, that the default port (1054) is in use.
I tried running hostmonitor with an administrative account, but I still get the same results.
Thanks,
Tom
4.42 Not properly running as service?
It could be invisible becauseI configured Hostmonitor 4.42 to run automatically as a service on Windows 2000 Server Sp4. When I start the server, Hostmonitor appears to be running (from the services applet) however, it is not visible and is not running the tests.
a)
You are using Terminal Service to check HostMonitor on remote system.
Solutions:
- use our Web Service or any 3rd party application such as PC Anywere instead of Terminal Service
- or login to the system locally
or
b) Service is started under some user account. Please switch it back to "local system" account and mark "Allow service to interact with desktop" option. Provide user account with necessary permissions on Service page in HOSTMONITOR's (!!!) Options dialog.
After that you will be able to check what's wrong with test executions.
Correct. Port is in use because HostMonitor already started as service. At this point, if I manually start Hosmonitor, it gives me an error that it cannot activate RCI, that the default port (1054) is in use
