RMA Slow

Post by johnm »

Hi,

I have a remote site of which I am monitoring 6 hosts from ping to perf counters. Until now I was connecting to this site using VPN and running tests against these hosts using their private IPs. Everything has been fine for many years but I want to avoid using VPN so I am now trying to use RMA v3.38 at the remote site.

I got it installed and configured. As well, I added an inbound firewall rule at the remote site for my configured port of 1056TCP. I also needed to create an outbound firewall rule at my local office where HM is running for port 1056TCP.

Here is my problem; accessing the RMA agent from my local office using RMA_MGR, the response is slow. As well if I perform a simple ping to a server on the remote network using the RMA agent, the test takes 10 seconds to complete.

Is there something I overlooked that would cause this slow response?

Thanks,
John

I think nothing can slow down RMA so much. Probably this is networks, firewall or antivirus issue

to confirm, is 1055TCP the only port required to be opened on the firewall?

Is there a different port tcp/udp that the RMA replies back to HM with?

No.
RMA uses single TCP port. By default port #1055 however you may setup RMA (and HostMonitor) to use any other port, e.g. 5055
