SMS: Invalid Pager ID's ??

Post by richie256 »

Hi

I am trying to configure one rule to send a SMS message to my mobile cell phone. I have found on the Net the phone number for TAP protocol of my cellphone company. But I am getting the following message: "01 Invalid Pager ID's - Bad List: 01 ." I am using my cellphone number as Pager ID. My service is working well, I am able to send text message with Outlook and MSN Messenger to my sell phone.

Do I need to get a Pager ID via my cellphone provider?

Thanks for your help.

Here is my log file:
Log (Port: TAPI1, Baud rate: 1200, Init string: AUTO, Dial string ATDT)

Initializing Modem
Dialing 9,XXXXXXXX
Connected
Sending Password
Password Accepted
Sending Msg 1 Block 1
01 Invalid Pager ID's - Bad List: 01 .
Releasing COM port .. ok
Error: 01 Invalid Pager ID's - Bad List: 01 .
Next attempt to send message will be made in 15 sec[/b]

Probably you have specified pager ID like phone number, e.g. 123-4567? Please remove dashes and other characters from the ID, keep numerals only.
If it will not help, please ask your cellphone provider about ID

I have called my cellphone provider and they say that is my phone number that I must use... I have already double tried to enter my cellphone number with and without dashes, with and without area code, and still don't work... My cellphone provider is Bell Mobility (Canada). I have tried other software and they all work fine (Outlook, MSN Messenger, Web pager), except for Host Monitor... Does anybody are configured with Bell Mobility and work fine??

Thank you for your help.

I want to know if the error message "Invalid Pager ID's - Bad List: 01 ." is an error message sent by my cell phone provider server or it is from Host Monitor? my cellphone number format is 999-999-9999 (3 first digit is for areacode and other is my cellphone number). Maybe it is different if it is from other country....

Alex! please I need your help!

>I want to know if the error message "Invalid Pager ID's - Bad List: 01 ." is an error message sent by my cell phone provider server or it is from Host Monitor?

Its HostMonitor's message. But HostMonitor does not check ID, it sends ID to the server and displays this error message when server replies with code different than 1 (Ok).

>I have tried other software and they all work fine (Outlook, MSN Messenger, Web pager)

As I know Outlook and MSN Messenger does not use TAP protocol (I don't know about Web pager).
If you successfully use these applications to send message, you may use HostMonitor and "Send e-mail" or "Send message to pager SNPP" actions instead of using TAP protocol.

I uploaded special test program at www.ks-soft.net/download/paging1.zip
Could you try it?
This program works like HostMonitor's TAP module but it can provide detailed log file. Application has 1 required command line parameter: name of ini file with settings and up to 8 optional parameters.
Example of ini file:

Code: Select all

[Pagers]
pgDevice=Auto select free TAPI device
pgBoudRate=2400
pgInitStr=AUTO
pgDialStr=ATDT
pgShowWindow=1
pgCloseWindow=1
pgCloseDelay=5
pgWaitFreeDevice=1
pgWaitDeviceDelay=15

pgDebugFile=debug.log
pgParity=0
pgAccessNumber=2868985
pgPassword=
pgPagerID=123123
pgMaxBlockSize=40
pgMessage=Host: %2%  Status: %3%
You just need to change access number, password, pager id, and probably name of your modem.
By default it will record information about data transmission into "debug.log" file. Could you send it us (support@ks-soft.net)?

Hey it work!

OK I have found that the powerp32.dll is included in the HostMonitor's directory. So I was able to test the Paging.exe program and I have tested it with your ini file and it work fine! The pager ID that work is my cell phone number without dashes and with areacode. I will send to you the log file of the apps Paging.exe.

I have just re-re-retried with the same pager ID as Paging.exe in HostMonitor and I always get the error message... So there is someting wrong in Host about the TAP :cry:

<UPDATE>
The used software is HostMonitor 4.10
</UPDATE>

I will send you the log file.

Thanks for your help Alex!

Do I need to register HostMonitor for PAP working??

I have try also the SNPP protocol and I can't get it working also. If I specify my cellphone number in format like it: "999-999-9999" I am getting an error message in "\Logs\syslog.htm":

2003-10-10 11:03:03 SNPP Error: 321: 550 Error, Pager 999-999-9999 doesn't exist

By the same way, if I specify my cellphone number in format like it: "9999999999" there is no error message in "\Logs\syslog.htm" and nothing hapened, I did not recieve anything on my cellphone.

I am waiting for the paging feature to work prior to register.

No, all functions must work before registration.
Its strange test program works, but HostMonitor does not. Both applications uses the same library, HostMonitor just does not contain code for debugging. Probably we will need to create customized version of HostMonitor for you to see what happens with monitor on your system...

Please, try this update: www.ks-soft.net/download/hm411.zip
You just need to add one line into hostmon.ini file, add pgDebugFile=name_of_the_debug_log_file into [Pagers] section.
E.g.
[Pagers]
pgDebugFile=debug.log

Please send log file to us (support@ks-soft.net)
