I am running Hostmon as a service (windows 2000 sp3). I access it via an RDP session (terminal service). When I click on the Hostmon icon on the dektop it looks as if it is running two seperate instances of hostmon, is this normal? When I want to make changes to the config must I make my changes, change them and then stop and start the hostmon service?
Thanks.
Changing configuration while running as a service

Yes, if you are accessing remote system using terminal service, HostMonitor's service cannot display information on your desktop. Service can communicate with local desktop only. That's why you don't see icon in system tray that represents running service. When you click icon on desktop you start another instance of the HostMonitor.

Yes. Probably better stop service first, start application, make changes, close application, and start service again.
