Reports with holidays excluded

Post by AlexL »

Right now, AHM alows the holidays list to be used only in tests and actions.

In my view, it would be very useful to be able to use this list also in various reports and statistics. For example, we have to provide our management and our customers with SLA-type reports (monthly, etc.) for the range Mo.-Fr., 08:00-17:00, with holidays excluded.

For the SLA reports I am using the Log Analyzer and I specify in the Filter option the range Mo.-Fr., 08:00-17:00. I would be happy to have an option "Skip holidays" :-), because now I have to elliminate from the logfile, with a text editor, the entries corresponding to the holidays :-(

I hope that you, and other users, will find this enhancement useful, and will have, therefore, an adequate priority, so that at least my SLA report for the year 2011, due in one year, could take advantage of this new feature. My 2010 SLA report is due by mid-February 2010 ... is there some hope ? ...

I don't think we will add such option for HostMonitor because this means HostMonitor should maintain additional statistic arrays for each test but I think we can implement such option for Log Analyzer.
I have added this task into "to do" list, medium priority

Not sure...
Log Analyzer will be able to produce reports for any period of time but I am not sure we implement this option within a month.

Thanks a lot, Alex.

BTW, I wasn't thinking of HostMonitor's statistical infos as displayed in the Test Detail Area, but only of the Filter option in Log Analyzer.

There is update at www.ks-soft.net/download/lm562.zip
Filter dialog offers "Use holiday list" option.
If you are using script to generate reports, then you may add optional UseHolidayList parameter for TimeFilter command.
E.g.
TimeFilter Include 9:00 18:00 00:00 00:00 UseHolidayList

You may check holiday list as well but Log Analyzer does not allow you to change this list. Use HostMonitor or RCC to modify list.
If Log Analyzer installed on different system then you need to copy holidays.lst file from system where HostMonitor is installed.

Of course we tested this update but not much so I would recommend to check how it works before sending reports to your boss

Yes, it works very well: the Log Analyzer skips indeed the holidays.

Thanks again.
