3 Stage Alerts: OK, Warning and Bad

Post by meppyman »

Wondering if it would be valuable to others to have a warning status as a possibility before going to Bad? For example, a temperature probe might go to Warning (Amber) if it goes over 22 degrees but only go bad if it goes to 25 degrees (C). Or if there are X number of Errors or Warnings in the event log in the last hour.

Then you could have different alerts for warnings and bad?

Not sure if anyone else would want this, I would find it useful but for now I can have 2 alerts for the same measurement, one for warning and one for bad.

Such option was implemented a while ago

You may mark "Use Warning status if" test property and specify logical expression to define when Warning status should be used.

Also you may use "advanced mode" actions

I really need to print out the manual and sit down one night and go through it all. If you ever do make the online help search-able that would be great too!

Thanks again, your fast response to questions and the fact that I started thinking HostMonitor might do 70-80% of what I wanted, to thinking it might do 90-99% of what I want, to learning that it is actually able to do more like 150% of what I need so I am finding things to monitor that I never thought of before!

Best $1K my business ever spent.

Yes, I think its good idea to read the manual :) There are over 400 pages of the manual, some sections contain pretty obvious information while other pages provide important information regarding HostMonitor logic.
