Differentiate between enable/disable and pause/resume.

Post by mos-eisley »

We have some trouble "learning" people the difference between endable/disable and pause/resume - so I very much would like 2 things:

1. Under "User has rights to" - split disable/enable/pause tests up into enable/disable and pause/resume

2. some form of logging/tracing on who did the action - maybee this is already possible somewhere?

If user has rights to pause test, it can pause test for several years. Its practically identical to disable option. So, probably there is no much sense to assign different rights

We have such task in "to do" list. Medium priority

I totally disagree - if a user pauses a test for several years there is an intention behind it, a user cant claim to be not knowing what to to if he manually enters or accept a date way in the future.

Disabling is so easy, its do-and-forget in a split second, with the "fatality" that the test does not run for severel days or weeks.

So I think there is a big difference  - and as a consequence, we have established a manual process checking for disabled tests - and investigating if any found each day if it should be disabled.

Sounds like you provide access to HostMonitor for everyone. I though access should be allowed only for network administrators.
Ok, I have added new task into "to do" list

Great Alex,

Only 5 people in total has enable/disable/pause access - mainly due to a duty tour, so they can pause (not disable :D ) tests at night and in weekends, if lets say, a customer has an outage ot a system crashed - there is nothing worse that having an SMS every hour for a whole night.
