Wish: Test statuses should not affect folder color

Hi !

Running HM 6.52 on Windows 2003 Server.

The new feature "Test statuses should not affect tray icon color" is a really nice addition.

Would it be possible for you to add an option called "Test statuses should not affect folder color" as well ?

Hi Alex !

We're about to implement some tests for a customer that we cannot take any actions on in case of failures - we only send an SMS to the customer.

For the same reason it would be nice if parent folders doesn't turn red in HM in case some of these tests fail.

Do you have an idea of when a feature like the one I wish listed above could be implemented - if at all ?

Couldn't you use the "Use 'Warning' status if" and use an appropriate expression to accomplish what you're looking for?

I haven't tried this myself, but I think I'm right in saying that this way it wouldn't show up as red. You could then decide if you want to use a custom color scheme to make Warning and OK both the same color, or a different shade of the same color. (I wouldn't, but you could)

Folder color: HostMonitor draws folder using color specified for Warning items when folder does not contain any unacknowledged (new) "bad" test but contains some unacknowledged (new) Warning item(s). In other words: "bad" items have top priority, while "warning" items have higher priority than "unknown" items.

You then use the "Treat Warning Status as Bad" to trigger the SMS message.

I always take note if I see a post from you - it's either something I'm experiencing or will experience as I become more familiar with the product and refine my methodology.

Probably Greyhat64 is right and custom Warning or Normal status is good workaround?

First of all thanks for the kind words (blushing)

- I'm happy if some of my sometimes strange utilizations of HM can be of use to others as well !
In general help/suggetions/ideas from users in the real world in real situations is priceless - although I'll have to add that the manual in HM is one of the most comprehensive I've worked with (a little praise to Alex as well

)

On the topic, yes by using your suggestions it might very well be possible to achieve what I want so I'll give it a try (we actually already use the same colors for 'Warning' as for 'Normal' as you mentioned).
I simply hadn't thought of this workaround (wonder if 'Warning' status was even around in HM 6.52 which was hot when I first asked for the color-thing ?
