Help - Basic SNMP Trap config ?

Post by Mullermand »

Hi
Im new to SNMP traps, and i can get it to work.
Im sure it just me there cant se the logic in it.

I have set up Hostmonitor to collect SNMP Traps from my Firewall
I have configured my firewall to send SNMP traps to Hostmonitor.
And it works.
( i have loaded the MIBS for the Firewall into MIB browser and saved. )

When i try to portscan the firewall it does send me an SMS, but i cant use the information to anything.

It looks like this:
Test: SonicWALL
Method: SNMP Trap
Status: Bad
Date: 26-02-2006 11:29:22
Reply : Specific (6.1)

That doas not say much ?
i would like to see what type of attack ( portscan ) and from what IP
Is that possible ?

"Display" property of the test allows you to choose type of information that should be displayed. I assume you want to see "Counter" value.

That's question to your firewall. I don't know what information it sends in trap message
