RMA Test

Post by genasea »

What is recommended for the following question?

With the unreliability of PerfCounters, all of our servers are setup to use RMA to query the perfcounters on each local server. Many times throughout the day (on various servers), it is typicaly for all tests to a specific server to go into 'unknown' (yellow). The reply is listed as 'RMA: Connection Error'

My question is, is there a way to test that the RMA is properly running? If so, we could set this up as a master test, and then only perform all our other tests if the RMA was running properly. This would be ideal, rather than seeing all 20 tests for that server go into alarm based upon RMA having a connection error.

FYI, we already have tests for checking the RMA service (making sure RMA is running) on the server.

Thank you

You may use TCP test to check RMA's port

How to setup TCP test? Just specify address of the system where agent is running and type port number used by agent (1054 by default). That's it
