RMA using RCC via VPN

Post by tmazzini »

Hi, i'm using RMA and it works fine.

But when I'm connected via VPN (pptp) with an ip of network that I'm monitoring, using RCC rma don't work.
RMA Manager (get info) says "no answer" and RMA says: RMA Error: Cannot read data.

If I use for example Dameware in remote desktop, using same istance of HM everything works fine, RMA too.

Other functions in RCC via vpn seems working fine...
Any idea, have I forgotten to read some instruction?
Thanks

So, RMA is installed in network A, HostMonitor - network B and RCC - network C?
VPN connection established from network C to network B?
Connection NetA<->NetB works fine
Connection NetB<->NetC works fine
Connection NetA<->NetC (thru NetB?) doesn't work.

It could be timeout issue. Could you increase timeout specified for the agent?

RMA is installed in network A (w2003srv std)
HostMonitor - network A (w2000 wrkst)
and RCC - network B (w2000 wrkst)
VPN connection is established from network B to network A

Connection is 2Mbps network B and 10Mbps network A, all ports opened in the tunnel.

I will try increasing timeout time tomorrow morning; now it's too late for me (in Italy)

...it is not a timeout problem; I increased it but when I call an RMA the replay "no answer" is really immediate.

It seems a problem reaching RMA, but all ports are opened.

When I am on the lan A (not through a VPN) with same pc it runs fine.

I do not know...

Could you try to connect to the agent thru VPN and check log1.txt and log2.txt files in RMA's directory. Any messages?
Please make sure RMA logging is enabled (you may use rma_cfg.exe utility to check settings)

...found solution

Problem is that when I'm connected via VPN and I use RMA I have a different IP from allowed IP (I allow only 2 IP).

...so RMA see a connection from an unautorized address.

I tried to connect to my UPS an this was the replay:
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Name : RV0033
Location : CED Via ..........
Contact : S....
http://10.10x.xxx.xxx

Serial # : .........
UPS Ser #: ..........
Date: 12/01/2005
Time: 21:06:00
Code: 0x0004

Informational - System: Detected an unauthorized user attempting to access the SNMP interface from 10.10x.xxx.xxx.

...and I understood.
