I am presently trying out IP TOOLS for the first time (having downloaded the unregistered 'official' version (2.08) to try before i buy).
However... every time I try to use the NB SCANNER part of IP TOOLS I get the following message....
'Warning: Cannot load attapi32.dll'
Basically, this means that this part of the IP TOLLS Program is unfunctional..I would be obliged for any help possible.
THANKX Chaps and Chapessess's!
By the way.... I am using WINDOWS ME and a 56k modem ... and 'all' other parts of the program work fine.(if that helps?)

Not exactly, it means some part of Windows ME is unfunctional. Windows 9x/ME contains netapi32.dll but this DLL does not work, its just stub. On Windows NT, Windows 2000, and XP this DLL works properly.
In case of IP-Tools this warning message means IP-Tools will be unable to detect OS on remote system. Everything else will work.
Regards
Alex

Sorry for delay, checked why IP-Tools can display so strange error message on XP. Fixed, there is update at http://www.ks-soft.net/download/ipt208d.zip
BTW: Error message displayed by NB Scanner does not relate to OS detection, it relates to resource enumeration. IP-Tools just try to detect OS, when its impossible IP-Tools does not display any error.
Also, If you have enabled both "Detect OS" and "Scan resources" options, IP-Tools will display OS name only when it got list of resources. So, if you want to know OS on remote system but don't care about resources, disable "Scan resources" option (located on NB Scanner page in the Options dialog).

When utility detects system with some resources it means the system has shared resources. Shared resources can be available for anyone or just for some users, resources can be password protected, available for write or read operations, etc.
If you want to connect to some resource you can use (for example) standard command line utility "NET". E.g. "NET USE K: \computernameresourcename password /USER:username"
