Event Reporting

Post by neih59 »

Hello,

I know that AHM provide you with an overall uptime of each host in percentage; but is it possible to show event time and duration. My company is requesting me to supply the time of application failure as well as the duration. Please let me know if this is possible. Thank you. :o

If you want to report overall downtime for each (or some) test item, there is "dead time" counter (this counter displays time, not %).
If you want to report about every failure, you need a log file

Normally HostMonitor records all "bad" and "good" events into single log. See Log Settings page in the Options dialog for settings.
Also you may setup HostMonitor to generate separate log files for each test item. See "Private Log" property in the Test Properties dialog.

If you want to have a log with "bad" events only, use "Record HM log" action method. www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/mframe.htm# ... htm#actLog

On the other hand, probably its better to use Log Analyzer (www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/la/index.htm) to produce some charts?
E.g. www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/la/examples/template.htm

This is great...unfortunately, I still tell the time of failure, as well as the duration. Maybe I should but this in the "wish list" :)

So, what exactly report do you need?
Set of tables, like

Code: Select all

Server1:
--------------------------------------------
    Time | Status | Duration
--------------------------------------------
15-04-05 | No answer | 20 min
17-04-05 | Unknown host | 5 min
14-05-05 | No answer | 1:05
--------------------------------------------

Server2:
--------------------------------------------
    Time | Status | Duration
--------------------------------------------
15-04-05 | No answer | 20 min
........
?

I am afraid current version of the software cannot produce such report.
I have added your request into "to do" list. Medium priority

Do you know if this feature will be release in the next version. Also, do you have an estimate time of the next release? This feature is very important to me, and I really hope you would somehow add it. thanks a bunch.

I am afraid it will not be implemented in next version. We have other plans.
May be we can create some command line utility, it will take less time....
