Action profiles list view

Post by Kapz »

Hi !

Currently the list of profiles in the Action Profiles windows is shown in 3 columns. Would it be possible to change this so each action profile is shown on it own line ?

We use a lot of different profiles, so we need to use long names in order to be able to distinguish between them. Example:

Send SMS Mo-Su 0000-2359
Send SMS Mo-Su 0000-2359+CustomerA
Send SMS Mo-Su 0000-2359+CustomerB
Send SMS Mo-Fr 0800-1800
Send SMS Mo-Fr 0800-1800+Mail CustomerC+SMS CustomerD

When shown in the columns in the Action Profiles window they appear as something like

Send SMS Mo-Su 0000-2359
Send SMS Mo-Su 0000-2359+Custo
Send SMS Mo-Su 0000-2359+Custo
Send SMS Mo-Fr 0800-1800
Send SMS Mo-Fr 0800-1800+Mail C

The optimal solution would of course be to let the user choose himself which view he would like to use, similar to Windows Explorers View menu (Large Icons, Small Icons, List, Details).

Another issue that also involves long action profile names is the drop down menu in which an action profile is assigned to a test.
This drop down only shows approximately the first 38 characters of the action profile names which isn't sufficient in all cases on our installation.
It would be great to have the possibility of clicking an icon next to drop down menu with the same symbol that you use next to the Comment field which would then open the window just discussed allowing me (hopefully) to see the action profiles' full names.

Hope my explanation makes sense ;)

Thanks - and best regards

Sure. Add 'APColumns=1' line into hostmon.ini file ([Misc] section) and restart HostMonitor.

HostMonitor provides [Configure] button for this purpose.

Alex,

Nice - works great :)

Yes, you're right - though I do belive that the yellow icon would be a better choice that the Configure button. IMHO it's more logical from a visual point of view and this is also the way you've designed it in windows with less space - e.g. in the Action Properties window, right next to the "Time restriction, use schedule" input field.
Besides that I think you mess a bit with an otherwise great interface by having the New button in the Test Properties windowl. I find it more logical that in order to create a new action profile the user have to open the Action Profiles window first before the new profile can be created by clicking the New button. The same applies to the schedule where I also have a Configure button and a New button in the Test Properties window.
I know that pressing the New button from the Test Properties window do actually open the appropiate window and "auto presses" the New button - but I think that the New buttons in the Test Properties window only takes up space without adding significant value.

No big deals but my 0.02 Euro anyway ;)
