Quick Units Question

Post by timn »

On Traffic Monitor test, under "alert if", can you confirm that "Mb" (as in Mb/sec, Mb/min) means megaBYTES, and not megaBITS?

Is this usage consistent throughout all tests and reports/replies in HM?

(I ask because in this neck of the woods, little "b" usually means "bits" and and big "B" usually means "bytes". But I don't get out much and perhaps this "standard" is only local... 8) )

Yes, "Kb" means Kilobyte, "Mb" means Megabyte. HostMonitor displays "Kbits" and "Mbits" for Kilobits and Megabits.
You are right, KB & MB is more correct, will be changed.

BTW According to IEC standard 1024 bytes should be denoted as "KiB" (kibibyte), KB is 1000 bytes!

:) Oh dear. I really don't get out enough. Around these parts, this is a kibibyte
