Service runs but Hostmonitor does'nt work !

Post by klaeger »

Hi together
i installed Hostmon 3.71 as Service on a Win2k Server with ISA Server on it. Configuring was possible but Hostmonitor runs only when i log in and open it. What's wrong with it ?

Thanx for helping

Why do you think so?
- because you do not see HostMonitor's icon?
- or because status of "Advanced Host Monitor" is "stopped"?
- or because it does not produce alerts and reports?
- or there are some other reasons?

Srvice is running but nothing counts

The Advanced Hostmonitor Service is running ! But when i start the Frontend i see that nothing happend between the last visit and the actual. The Counter of Ping to a external WAN Host was the last time 12 and now 13 - no difference if i wait 1 hour or 2 days :-( So i guess that nothing is counted when the Hostmon runs only by Service.

You don't see any difference because you start another instance of HostMonitor that does not have access to recent data (HostMonitor saves statistics when you click menu item Save or when you close application/stop service).

Why you are starting another instance? Probably service is running on remote system and you are using Terminal Service to access that system?
In this case you should stop service before start HostMonitor as application.

Or probably you cannot check what service is doing because you have changed default "local system" acoount to some other and disabled "allow service to interact with desktop" option?
