Browsing of remote Perf Counters

Post by timn »

Is it possible to browse (from the AHM machine), the performance counters on a remote machine (where RMA is installed) strictly through the defined RMA port number (e.g. 1055)?

When I know the exact perf counter I want to monitor, I can type it in and it works just fine - using just the RMA port.

However, when I attempt to browse the counters, it fails. My sniffer shows that it is failing because AHM is attempting to reach the RMA machine using ports 139 and 445, neither of which are allowed out through the firewall.

I can work around this for the time being by knowing the exact perf counter I want and typing it into AHM manually. But browsing would sure be handy.

BTW, I'm using AHM 4.10 and RMA 1.11

Yes, its true. HostMonitor does not use RMA when you browse counters or files, yet.
We have huge "to do" list and somehow it grows with time

Not a problem. Would like to see this a some point in the future but I've got a fair work-around for the time being.

Regardless, AHM is an excellent tool. The more I use it the more impressed I become. You've obviously put an incredible amount of time and thinking into it and it shows.
