Server mode URL test not using "Log on as"

Post by eskopal »

I recently switched to using HostMonitor as a service. My URL tests, that log into my Exchange servers, stopped working.

They work fine when the service is started using the normal administrative account but fail when logged in as "system" as required to interact with the desktop. I am passing the domain\username:password on the command line.

I have temporarily gotten around the problem by disabling "Windows Authentication" on the IIS servers hosting Exchange 2000. This has to be done everytime the servers are rebooted. Apparently, Exchange 2000 resets the privledges when it creates the service at system startup.

It appears the URL tests are not executing in the context of the "Log In As" user but rather as "System". The "System" credentials appear to be passed first -- negating the account information on the command line.

Can you insure that the URL tests are executed in the context of the "Log In As" user?

No, it uses default security context.
But if you need this option, no problem. There is update at www.ks-soft.net/download/hm415.zip
