Timeout Problems over WAN Connection

Post by klaeger »

Hi together,

my Hostmonitor 3.68 has the following problem. Several tests were made over a WAN Connection to a connected LAN. Sometimes it needs up to 5000 ms to check a service running on a Server in this connected LAN. So it happans that this System warns per e-mail but in fact there is no error condition. This problem occurs since i changed the Server Hardware and the OS. Now it's running on a Dell PowerEdge 2650 under Win2K Server. The WAN Connection runs over two ZyXEL Prestige 1400 Routers.

H'm, its hard to say what exactly does not work correctly :-(
I can just recommend use "Repeat test" action to force the monitor to perform the test one more time (not waiting until time of the test interval is elapsed) and start other actions (e.g. warning by e-mail) after 2nd consecutive bad result.

Regards
Alex

Found out that when i let run the HM Service under the Domain-Administrator Account with trusted relationship to the other Domain at the other End of the WAN and check services without credentials the timeout reduces from 5000 ms to about 850 ms

Problems with "connect as"

Post by JuergenF »

I can confirm that:
It's absolutly different running the service under the Domainadmin account or using the "connect as" with the Domainadmin account

Here are the LAN response times.
Running Hostmonitor service under the Domainadmin account

Ferrari-Fax (Fax-Dienst) 12641 ms (with Connect as DomainAdmin)
InterScan E-Mail VirusWall DCDW0150 188 ms (without connect as)

I even can't get a service check running under the system account "connecting as" other users (W2K SP4).
