We have a problem with Windows authentication and RCC.
Hostmon is running as service account DOMAIN\hostmon and RCC users login as DOMAIN\username. This works for a few minutes after service startup, then we get the error "InitializeSecurityContext failed. The specified target is unknown or unreachable".
When we restart the service it works again for a few minutes.
This happens for any account with Windows authentication. Accounts with HM auth can always login.
We are running HM 14.96 and RCC 9.96.
Any ideas?
RCC / Win auth
Re: RCC / Win auth
Sounds very strange and we cannot explain this (there are various reasons for such error but its should be stable - stable working or stable non working). This works for a few minutes after service startup, then we get the error "InitializeSecurityContext failed. The specified target is unknown or unreachable".
What Windows do you use on HostMonitor system? on RCC systems? Domain Controller?
If RCC was authenticated, connection should be active for unlimited time (unless there is network related problem).
Do you mean RCC disconnects by itself and then cannot connect again? Or this (connected) RCC works fine while other RCC cannot authenticate?
Any errors detected by Auditing Tool (menu View)?

Alex
Re: RCC / Win auth
After setting the (same) service user in Options under Startup, Service and restarting the service the problem is gone. Before that the user was only set manually in the services applet.
Thanks anyway.
Thanks anyway.
Re: RCC / Win auth
Thank you for the update. Looks like Windows bug
What Windows is installed on HostMonitor system? Any errors recorded in HostMonitor system log (menu View->System Log)?

Re: RCC / Win auth
The HM server is running Windows Server 2019 fully patched.
System log does not show anything helpful.
Must have been some weird timing problem.
But anyway, as it is working now we do not need any further analysis.
