Is it possible to monitor MAC Adresses

Post by AndreT78 »

Hi,

wie use Microtik Capsman Access Points and they only communicate via MAC
address in the network. They don't have an IP itself.

Is it possible to monitor them with the HM?`

Thanks

No, there is no built-in test for such task.

I assume you want to get some answer with some useful data from this device? Probably there are some command line tools provided by manufacturer?
Or you just want to check if network card with specific MAC present in the LAN?

It would be enough for us at the beginning if we can sea whether the device is online.
Like the PING test

I think IP can be enabled on this device

There are various ARP Ping utilities.
You need utility that may set different exit codes depending on results, then you may setup External test method
