Event Log - tests give false positive results
Using Host Monitor (not a RMA) to test the Event Log on a remote computer for errors in the Windows 2000 Event Log, I get status "OK" and reply in milliseconds when there are errors present. When I conduct the same test on the local machine, I get accurate replies and the reply spells out the error message correctly. I am using the UNC of the remote computer by typing it in (\10.4.3.2) because I cannot browse the remote computer in my Network since my Host Monitor Server is on a different network, but this technique works OK on other UNC tests. I am using the login name/password of an administrator on the remote computer in "connect as". If I reverse the alert, I get a "bad" status, but the reply is still in milliseconds not the text of any Event Log error. Can you suggest a solution please?
Looks like HostMonito retrieves information from remote system but retrieved information does not fit specified filters. What filters do you use? Computer, Event type, Event ID, Description? Could you export test properties into text file (menu File->Export) and provide this information?
