TCP Listener Capability

Post by RRing »

We have currently consolidate several monitoring applications into HostMonitor and have one remaining custom monitoring application left. Would it be possible to add a TCP Listener Test or functionality which would be similiar to the SNMP Trap test? We have several custom back office applications which send error data through a TCP message on failure. We use the current TCP test for polling the applications for a status on the specified port, but would really like HostMonitor to listen for real time messages.
Example HostMonitor Listens on Port 58000 and accepts any message sent by application such as - from:10.0.0.1 58000 "Application Not Responding". Thanks for any possible solutions or recommendations.

SYSLog Collector

Thanks for the quick reply Alex. I have sent the details of SYSlog support to our development team to see if they would support. I will send an update as soon as they discuss in our architects meeting tomorrow.

Hi,

Any news on adding "syslog test method" to hostmon? I would like to monitor a lot of machines that will send syslog in case of problems in only one test.

Thanks,

Jromariz.

Ok Alex,

Meanwhile is it possible to configure a test to listen on a certain port and alert based on a string received?

Thanks again.

Jromariz.
