Mail relay test over rma

Post by kalkulationsmaschine »

We would appreciate if we could monitor our mailserver chain over RMA.

SMTP relays, Spam filter are often located in a DMZ. So it is necessary for monitoring purposes to place a RMA in the DMZ.

Another reason for the need of mail test over RMA could be if two Mailservers are at different physical locations. In this case you also have to use an extra RMA for the mail relay test.

The third application I could imagine is wenn you use a centrally organized Hostmon topology. Which means one Hostmon installation in a management LAN services all company internal Nets or different customer LANs by the use of many RMAs.

There are many other situations where Mailservers are located behind a firewall and you have to use one port for monitoring only which means you have to use an RMA also.

Also we would appreciate if we could assign different RMAs for the outgoing and the incomming mail tests.

This should be implemented someday. Task has "medium" priority.

Not sure this will be implemented
