pause alert to some tests

Post by frankchien »

Hi,
I can only pause monitor to some tests, or pause monitor/alert to all system, but can't pause alert to some tests.
I need to pause alert and still get monitor status to some tests for some porpuse. (ex, server or equipment maintenance, power failure or maintenance, don't need to alert, but can still get log and statistics of monitor status.)

If it can be implemented would be great.

Best regards,

Frank

Probably you can use Acknowledgment options
http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/mfra ... ts.htm#ack
=====================
If you have used "Acknowledge and stop alerts" button, HostMonitor will suspend all alerts triggered by "acknowledged" test item(s) until the test(s) restores "good" status - then HostMonitor will resume normal actions behavior ("ack" flag could also be cleared when test changes the status from "unknown" to "bad", unless you have marked "Treat Unknown status as Bad" option for this test item).
If you have used "Acknowledge that" button, HostMonitor will not suspend alerts. However you may configure the alert profile to launch different actions for "non-acknowledged" and "acknowledged" test items (using "advanced mode" actions and "acknowledged" macro variables).
=====================

Any chance to get this feature?

Acknowledge isn't realy what we want, pause alerting for x minutes/hours would be great. I still want to see the test on our "down view".

Hi Alex,

Any chance for a little christmas present? ;-)
We really miss this feature - pause alerting for some tests.

ok, I understand

By the way, what about version 9? Can you already give us some details, what will be new in version 9 and when it will be released?

We still have some tasks for version 8.
I think we start version 9 development in February 2011. There are a lot of tasks for version 9 including "pause alert for test" option. Also we will try to implement some "big" tasks, make HostMonitor even more distributable (imagine several HostMonitor started on different systems working with single list of tests).

When it will be realeased? Who know, its development process. I am thinking about May-June 2011.

Yes, its in the list, we though we would implement it a year ago but there are some problems related to "Action depends on Bad one" option...

+1 for this one from me, too
Maybe even suspend alerts on a entire folder?
