URL and HTTP Test Success Criteria

Post by pwoll »

When using the URL test without any added options (e.g. contect checks, etc), what criteria does HostMonitor use to determine whether the test is a success? Please answer the same question for the HTTP test.

If you do not use any additional options (like CRC check), HostMonitor checks HTTP response code.
- If server does not respond at all, HostMonitor sets "No answer" status.
- If server responds with some error code (e.g. 404=page not found or 500=internal server error), HostMonitor sets "Bad" status.
- If server responds with HTTP code 200 (ok), HostMontior sets "Host is alive" status.
Please answer the same question for the HTTP test.
The same question - the same answer :)

What if the server responds with a CRL Error forbidden when testing an HTTPS Site?

It will be handled in the same way (like any other error code), HostMonitor will set "Bad" status

If you want to set different status for some specific HTTP error codes, you may use "Optional status processing" options.
