Alex, in case you decide ton include the previous changes:
I thought that this kind of test could be VERY useful for someone seeking to asses a whole mail infrastructure performance: Say that the admin wants to certify that his exchange -or whatever- server has to deliver incoming and outgoing email in less then 6 minutes. Then the improved mailrelay test could help to do that.
Also charts could be used from the log manager to give a precise picture of the mail system performance, not only for the relaying capability.
How I am using this: HM sends a mail to the mailserver to a test email address who responds -via a respond of forward rule- to some external address (pop3 account), read by HM from the pop server. This allows to test the whole capability of a mail server to receive and deliver mail in a timely manner, regardless of possible encoding.
Also, just writing this as it comes in my mind:
May be Mailrelay could monitor the pop3 account to assess the delivery time (charting or performance monitoring purposes). But this means scanning the account at a much higher rate....
Roughly would it be worthy to be able to say in how much time a mail was delivered and could HM help for that ?
Regards.
mailrelay test option
This is impossible in current version but may be we can implement such option. I have added your suggestion into "to do" list.May be Mailrelay could monitor the pop3 account to assess the delivery time (charting or performance monitoring purposes). Alex, I apologize if this post doesn't fit in this thread, but it may be related to the updated hostmon.exe.
I have bee experiencing cpu hugs ( 90 to 100 %) by hostmon.exe running as a service on windows XP. The usual footprint is around 2-3 % cpu max. The service starts fine and could just work fine for a few hours ( or may be minutes) without any problem, and then becomes CPU greedy. I have removed any logging just in case. But it didn't help.
Any idea ?
Thanks.

Could you please provide more information
- Have you installed Windows XP Service Pack 2?
- What version of HostMonitor do you use?
- What kind of tests are performed by HostMonitor?
- Do you use ODBC logging or ODBC test method? If yes, what ODBC driver do you use?
- Do you have installed some antivirus monitors, personal firewall, content monitoring software? Non stanard winsock components?
