Our network design does not allow any connections from our 'less' secure segment to request data from the more secure segments, but we can send data out from more secure to less secure. We have Host Monitor installed in less secure zone in order to allow more users to connect to it and for it to have more open access to more systems. The RMA appears to require the Host Monitor system to request the remote systems to run a scan and then report back with the new statuses. Unfortunately this type of request/reply traffice is unauthorized in our area. Is it possible to have a Host Monitor system installed in the more secure zone and have it push the results out to a Host Monitor system in the less secure zone?
Thanks!

Re: Distributed Host Monitor
Correct. RMA accepts requests from HostMonitor, performs test (or action) and provides information about test result back to HostMonitor.pmwither wrote:The RMA appears to require the Host Monitor system to request the remote systems to run a scan and then report back with the new statuses.
Sorry, HostMonitor can not work in that way. We have been working on new RMA, that will be able to connect to HostMonitor, request test list, perform tests and send result to HM. The new RMA will be available in version 7.0pmwither wrote:Unfortunately this type of request/reply traffice is unauthorized in our area. Is HTTP traffic also restricted in your secure segment? If not, you may install HostMontior into more secure segment, and install bunch of RMAs into less secure segments. Also you should instal WebService, that provides web interface for HostMonitor. WebService allows users to access HostMonitor in real time using a web browser. http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/webservice/index.htm

Send alarms to HostMonitor? What exactly do you mean?
HostMonitor may execute various "alarms", many of these actions were designed to send alerts to the people. E.g. "Send e-mail", "Send ICQ", "Send SMS", "Play sound". I do not see any sense to send sound file from one HostMonitor to another.
If you want to send some information from one system to another, you may use "Log Event", "SQL Query", "Syslog", "HTTP request", "Send data to TCP port", "SNMP Set" or "SNMP Trap" actions.
If you want to send some data from HostMonitor to HostMonitor, I would recommend to use "SNMP Trap" action.
