Novell Autologon.
Novell Autologon.
Hi.
HostMonitor has a good option in startup->service "Log on as" where is possible to enter name and password of local system's user or a domain's user. Is it possible to integrate option for Novell eDir's user for accessing to Novell network resources after system bootups?
Thanks.

I have some tests thats check fee space on Netware server's pools, change of abend.log file etc. Without logon in eDir when HostMonitor starts as a service there is not able to check these tests.
We have eDirectory and Active Directory both. eDir is in the root of this scheme (AD synchrnise with eDir and get all user's parameters and user policy from eDir). So user must be authenticated in eDir first of all.

Does it work when hostMonitor is started as application?Dubolomov wrote:I have some tests thats check fee space on Netware server's pools, change of abend.log file etc. Without logon in eDir when HostMonitor starts as a service there is not able to check these tests.
Could you try to use Connection Manager with eDir user (user.container_full_path) as username and NCP path instead of UNC? I think, it should work.

Max
I'm use "Check UNC" test for check free space on NetWare's volumes. Sometimes these tests have "unknown" statuses and sometimes reply value of these tests are wrong. For example realy on one of the volumes free space is 1862Mb but test return value 93Gb. In next check this test can return true or unknown value. Using NCP path like ".server_volume.context:\" doesn't work (i do something wrong?).
I don't know wherefore this happend. All were fine. The last what i did is updating HostMonitor to 6.51 and Novell Client for Windows from 4.91 SP2 to 4.91 SP3. But i think this is not a reason of this fault.

Hm. We have not modified codes for UNC test for ages. Very strange behaviour. Does UNC test have problems with Novell Servers with Multiple Volumes only? Or it does not matter? Could you leave only one UNC test for each NOVELL server (to check only one volume)? Does it work properly every time?Dubolomov wrote:I'm use "Check UNC" test for check free space on NetWare's volumes. Actually, it has to work with UNC path.Dubolomov wrote:Using NCP path like ".server_volume.context:" doesn't work (i do something wrong?).
We have been receiving reports about bugs in some older versions of Novell clients, but you are using the latest one, so, I will try to find some information regarding this issue.Dubolomov wrote:I don't know wherefore this happend. On this server installed other monitoring tool and it has problem with checking free space on Novell Servers too.
It's not HostMonitor's problem. I tryed to use all UNC test methods but had the same result.
I just want to know do you have plane to insert novell autorisation feature in HostMonitor as in domain or local station?
Thanks.

Glad it works!Dubolomov wrote:I found the problem - not true settings in Novell Client. So now it's work fine. Thanks.

Could you provide us the link to this program? Maybe it helps someone.Dubolomov wrote:About autologon. I found a novell program "Autolog" which can login to novell network at startup (and if needed lock computer).
You are welcome!Dubolomov wrote:Thank you very much!

How to make autologon to eDir:
http://support.novell.com/cgi-bin/searc ... 052847.htm
Application for making autologon:
http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/tools/13525.html
Or you just can create local username and password the same as in eDir. When computer trying to connect to NetWare it use this username and password by default. You must only enter context where eDir user is in the tree (option in Novell Client for Windows).
