Delayed logout

Post by SIF »

We have started to see a delayed logout in the server we have the HostMonitor (6.24) service running on background. We installed UPHClean and this is the report we have:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Event Type: Information
Event Source: UPHClean
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1401
Date: 22/11/2006
Time: 16:56:54
User: SIF\server_admin
Computer: SERVER_NAME
Description:
The following handles in user profile hive SIF\server_admin (S-1-5-21-1085031214-1580818891-1417001333-500) have been remapped because they were preventing the profile from unloading successfully:

hostmon.exe (2656)
HKCU (0x55c)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why is this happening?

Not sure I understand the problem. If HostMonitor is started as service, it should not effect logon/logoff procedure at all.
Probably you are using Terminal Service to work with remote server? And you start another instance of HostMonitor as application?

Or may be this problem has nothing to do with HostMonitor. What Windows do you use? Service Pack? "Delayed" means 2-5 sec? 30 sec? 5 min?
Have you read the following articles:

Thanks for the response.

To give more clarification (I forgot to post it before), we're using Windows 2000 Server SP4 + all released hotfixes until today, and we have disabled any kind of redirection (printers, ports and drives) in our clients and server. It could be something Windows related but the event log from UPHClean points to HostMonitor locking the registry while the log out was happening. The delay is about 60 seconds IIRC.

We don't start more HM sessions, we use the RCC if we need to administer so we can take out that as well. That error didn't happen again until now so it might have been a problem that was fixed by UPHClean. It's really strange.

Just wanted to know if someone experienced the same and knew why that could happen.

Regards.
