I just upgraded HM from 5.91 to 6.24 and getting a web page error "Transmission Error (web service <-> Hostmonitor) Connection Error". Probable causes: HM is not running (it is) or RCI interface disabled (enabled), HM Web Service configured incorrectly (TCP 1054), or network problem. The error happens after the (webpage) user login.
I've gotten this message prior to the upgrade and rebooting the server always fixed it; but not after the upgrade. The HM Web Service and Host Monitor are both started as service (system) but am getting the message "Cannot activate RCI. Probably port #1054 is in use" from the user console.
"cannot activate RCI"
This message means some other application (or another instance of HostMonitor) already uses the port. You may change port used by HostMonitor, RCC and Web Service to any other, e.g. 2054but am getting the message "Cannot activate RCI. Probably port #1054 is in use" from the user console.
What exactly means "from the user console"? You are using Terminal Service to work with HostMonitor installed on remote system? And you start HostMonitor as application without stopping the service? You should not do that. Please read the following article: http://www.ks-soft.net/cgi-bin/phpBB/vi ... php?t=1100

I didn't realize I had to re-register upon upgrade. Ok, I did that, registered and still got the same message. Then I changed the port from 1054 to 2054 on both HM and RCI, restarted services, and now it works. I'm not sure why it wouldn't before...I checked in task manager and always only one instance of each were running (as service under system).
I've always TS to the remote server with /console switch and log in as the proxy user...so I can see the console (started as a service); and there is only 1 instance running. In fact, I have a test to alert me if there is more than 1 instance of the process running.
Anyway, changing the port worked.

If you installing new version over existing one, you don't need to re-register as long as you have valid license for that new version.I didn't realize I had to re-register upon upgrade
If your license is not valid for new version, then you may purchase new version with 50% discount

Menu Help->Update check allows you to verify license prior to the upgrade.
