OK I have written a vbscript which returns the folder size but it fails on certain directories (such as c:\wndows\) with a permissions error.

What user do these hostmonitor test run under on a remote machine ?

File/Folder size test

I am trying to produce a test which will count the size of a selected number of files/folders and add the total size together.

I have used the file/folder size test in the past but this time the folders are not subfolders of each other.

Thanks

Sorry you are rigt. I have just emailed the correct test,

The first one I emailed you should run at 9am each day but this one does not seem to run regularly either.

Eventlog tests

I have a test which checks for varous event ID in the eventlog on a remote machine. Although I ask it to check every 1 hour it does not seem to check every hour or anywhere near. Quite often when I am notified that the event has been found I check the server and it has actually occurred several days...

I have a check for the process but even when it has brought up a runtime error on the screen the process is still running so I cannot detect that the failure ahs occurred.

There is a piece of software running on the server which requires the z: drive to be mapped, it will not use UNC path.

If the Z: drive is not mapped the software generates a runtime error and crashes, I need to now if the z: drive exists and if it is not I can do some remedial action.

Check availability of mapped network drive

I need to check the availability of a folder on a mapped network drive. I have to use a mapped network drive because this is the method that the software on the server which is causing the problem requires. I cannot use a UNC path. When I try and create a Folder/File availablility test I can only se...

File exists test fails when file is 0 bytes

I have AVG Anti-Virus installed on a few servers which I am monitoring. When the AV requires the server to be rebooted it writes a file to a directory. It seems this file is 0 byes long and although it can be seen locally on the server using Windows Explorer the RMA is unable to detect it and does n...
