File exists test fails when file is 0 bytes

Post by willhartley »

I have AVG Anti-Virus installed on a few servers which I am monitoring.

When the AV requires the server to be rebooted it writes a file to a directory. It seems this file is 0 byes long and although it can be seen locally on the server using Windows Explorer the RMA is unable to detect it and does not alert when the file exists.

Is there a way of getting the RMA to see this file.

Thanks

As I understand, you are trying to use "Folder/File Availability" test method, right? Sorry, could not reproduce the problem. What version of HostMonitor do you use? What version of RMA do you use? Probably, you have to select "Alert when file does not exist" option to make it work (by default "Alert when file exist" option is selected)? Could you verify it?

I am using the test if file exists method.
I am checking for C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG7\wait4sd
The file DOES exist as I can see it in the directory when I go through Windows Explorer on the server but when I click on the browse button in Hostmonitor and try to locate it it does not show and hostmonitor is unable to detect it.
I can email the file and some screenshots if that helps.

I am using HM v 6.54 and Remote v3.38 on Windows 2003 Server.

Thanks

Does this file exist on the machine where HostMonitor is running or on the machine where RMA is running?

What "Agent" is specified in "Select folder or file" window (window appear after you press the Browse button in "Test Properties" window of "Folder/File Availability test")?

Email and screenshots coming through,

I am trying to check for the existence of the wait4sd file on a remote machine which is running the RMA.

Thanks
