- What version of HostMonitor do you use?
- Do you see any errors?
- Do you see any error messages in Event Viewer (Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer applet)?
- Was not it installed at all or it was installed but not started?
- Do you mean it was started, but you did not see the icon in tray?
Officially HostMonitor is not supported on Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008. However, the latest HostMonitor should work on Windows Server 2008. It works fine, except one thing:
Due to changes in Windows core made by Microsoft, Win32 services cannot display anything on desktop on Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008. So, to access HostMonitor GUI you should use RCC (Remote Control Console: http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/rcc/index.htm ) or create simple BAT file that will stop service, start HostMonitor in application mode and (after you change settings and terminate application) start service again. E.g:
======================
net stop hostmonservice
"c:\program files\hostmon\hostmon.exe"
net start hostmonservice
======================

- What version of Active RMA do you use?
- What Windows 2008 server do you use? Business? Enterprise? 32-bit? 64-bit?
- What account do you use to start Active RMA? Does it have necessary rights? Could you try to start the agent under admins account or under "Run as administrator" option?
- Do you see any error messages in Event Viewer (Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer applet)?

Max
I am using Windows 2008 SBS (64bit) - all updates applied
RMA installed (from latest ver7 install) and running as service under the admin accounts. There are no error messages in the event logs
We run a single host monitor server running Windows 2003 standard - IIRC 6.51 or something like that - the only tests ive not been able to get to work so far is the event log's - has there been any "workarounds" that anybody has found for those tests.... or is it just sit and wait for the newer version that will support 2008 (if you are planning on doing so....)

So, have you been able to start Active RMA properly? Thank you for the info!SplanK wrote:I am using Windows 2008 SBS (64bit) - all updates applied

Looks like you have faced to another problem. Could you, please, start a new thread and describe theSplanK wrote:the only tests ive not been able to get to work so far is the event log's - has there been any "workarounds" that anybody has found for those tests....
"NT Event Log" problem? Do you see any errors in "Reply" field?
Yes, HostMonitor will be supported on Windows 2008. We are working on it.SplanK wrote:or is it just sit and wait for the newer version that will support 2008 (if you are planning on doing so....)

So, agent is running or not? What is the status of the service? Stopped? Starting? Started? Could you start service manually using Windows Services applet?RMA installed (from latest ver7 install) and running as service under the admin accounts.
Do you have installed some antivirus monitors, personal firewall, content monitoring software? Non stanard winsock components?
