I now have an issue with oracle testing. i am using active-rma on the oracle server. I have the oracle client installed on the server.
when i setup the test on the host monitor its says that OCI.dll not loaded
does the client need to be installed on the host monitor machine,
my host monitor is not located at the same site as the monitored servers
Oracle testing
Oracle client should be installed on system that performs the test. If test is performed by agent, install client on system where agent is runnign.
What version of the client do you use? Can you find oci.dll? Can you check system path variable? does it point to folder where oci.dll is installed?
Regards
Alex

H'm... system path? or user path?
Are you running RMA as service or application?
If it is started as service, could you try to start RMA in application mode?
There are 2 path variables: one variable specified for system profile, another specifies path for each user. May be path to oci.dll specified in user's variable? if RMA is started as service, it uses system variable only.
Have you checked system path variable (Start -> Control Panel -> system -> Advanced -> Environment Variables)?

it is listed as a system varible, same thing happens in application mode.
one thning i did try is installing the oracle client on the local pc where Hostmonitor is installed and the cannot load oci.dll went away but still soesnt check the server, it looks as though even as i want to use active rma it is looking for the oci.dll on the local pc that is not on same network as the oracle server.
it looks the same when trying to test sql server that one says ntwdblib cannot be loaded but the client is loaded on the server
that has active rma running

No. When test is performed by RMA, HostMonitor does not care about DLL.it looks as though even as i want to use active rma it is looking for the oci.dll on the local pc that is not on same network as the oracle server
Unless I misunderstand something... Have you setup the test and you see "Cannot load OCI.DLL" in Reply field of the test? Or you are just trying to create test and you are using "Test" button provided be Test Properties dialog?
Also, what version of HostMonitor do you use? RMA?
