I am trying to use RMA to monitor if a file is 'up to date' on a shared drive in a MS cluster. (That is, a shared SCSI array that can be accessed in active/passive mode by either node)
If I install the RMA on say Node 192.168.0.1 it works fine when that node is active, but fails when it's passive. I could put RMA on both nodes, but then I get false results from the 'offline' passive node.
I can't seem to allocate the RMA a shared IP that exists on the cluster but only to an IP bound to a NIC ..
Any advice pls?

Probably, you can check the file by HostMonitor, using cluster name, without RMA? As I understand, it does not matter for you which node is active?rustyhill wrote:I am trying to use RMA to monitor if a file is 'up to date' on a shared drive in a MS cluster. Actually, according to the following post, you may assign RMA to the Cluster Name: http://www.ks-soft.net/cgi-bin/phpBB/vi ... php?t=3977rustyhill wrote:If I install the RMA on say Node 192.168.0.1 it works fine when that node is active, but fails when it's passive. Another solution is to install RMA on each node (not the best solution indeed). In such case you may use script, that is listed in foregoing topic to determine, which node is active and use Master/Dependant relations to query RMA on first or second node. http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/mfra ... htm#Master
Also, you may post a message into this topic: http://www.ks-soft.net/cgi-bin/phpBB/vi ... php?t=3977 and ask 'fishvict' about RMA in cluster environment.

Max

Clusters & RMA
Thanks for the prompt reply. I think I got it wrong when I tried first.
I've now set an RMA on both nodes and told the monitoring station to look for the clustered IP which is used for the clustered SQL server the system hosts. This remains contstant regardless of whihc node is active and hence seems to work fine.
Thanks for the tips - I'll follow them up,
