Test method: Performance Counter for certain time-period ???

Post by davidhavlicek@gmail.com »

Hi all,

I'm having difficulties setting up Performance Counter (%Processor Time) as a Test method so that it would send an alert/email if the Processor Time is greater than, say 90, for certain period of time, say 10s or so. CPU time normally jumps up and down, so I need to catch the real issue which is when CPU hangs for longer period.

Hope I made my question clear to understand ;-)
Many thanks guys.

To achieve that you should do the following:
1. Setup a "Performance Counter" test and set test interval to 5 sec
2. Assign to this test an action profile with "Send email" action.
3. In "Action Properties" window of the "Send email" action, you have to set "Start when 2 consecutive Bad results occur".
Foregoing scheme covers 10sec interval. If you need another interval, you may change test insterval and/or number of consecutive bad results.

Quote from the manual:
http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/mfra ... dardaction
==================
Start when N consecutive Bad/Good results occur
This parameter determines when to execute an action. For example you want to send a message to a network administrator's pager after three unsuccessful tests of the web server consecutively, set this parameter to 3. If you want to start action right after the test status was changed, set parameter to 1.
