Post by CapQwerty »

Please add to the wish list the ability to prevent users from being able to "Disable Alerts / Enable Alerts"

"manage action profiles" item
We use the other action profiles but have yet to see that one.
My link points to "User profiles" section of the manual, not "alert profiles.
===========
Since the version 4 HostMonitor supports different permissions for each user. Each user (operator) has an account with a name, full name and a password. According to the set of permissions users may perform some (or all) of the following operations:
- add tests/folders
- configure tests/folders
- remove tests/folders
- disable/enable tests
- reset statistics
- start/stop monitoring
- change options
- manage schedules
- manage mail profiles
- manage color profiles
- manage report profiles
- manage action profiles
- manage user profiles
- acknowledge test status
===========
If user cannot manage action profiles, he cannot disable or enable alerts either.

Thanks for that.

I would still like on the wish list this feature, I imagine you would have to split it out a little.
Would like it similar to start/stop monitoring in user profiles.

If we use Manage Action profiles then it affects just about everything else they do. All we are looking for is a way to stop the user doing is stop Alerting for the whole of hostmon.

I do not see reason to create 2 different permission items
- manage alert profiles
- enable/disable alerts
Effect exactly the same - if user has right to modify profiles he may stop some or all actions. E.g. operator may remove action profile(s) == "disable alerts".

We obviously see it differently. For us we still want the users to be able to manage what they do. We would like the ability to stop them from doing a wholesale stop alerts from the menu bar. If they choose to go in and change individual profiles to get around a process that we have in place then it will take a while for them to remove them. This is not likely to happen when we have a much easier way to stop alerting outside of hm
