All questions related to installations, configurations and maintenance of Advanced Host Monitor (including additional tools such as RMA for Windows, RMA Manager, Web Servie, RCC).
There are two timeout values is used.
One of them is specified by rma_cfg utility (on system where agent is running). Second is specified on HostMonitor's side in "Agent Connection Parameters" dialog.
Anyway I suggest you specify at least 120 sec timeout.
If you have some tests that may require significant amount of time (e.g. you want RMA to compare 2 huge files) or you are using slow network connection, you need long timeout interval.
THis agent execute 250 test but exclusively performance counters and SNMP get test, and the netwok is enough fast.
Maybe time-out caused by firewall between Agent and AHM?
Yes I have allowed connetion between RMA and AHM through firewall.
But I don't know why some SNMP get tests reply RMA 301 Timeout, I have adjust timeout value to 120 sec, maybe if I adjust retries parametre in SNMP tests to 2 or 3 problem will disappear

Agent performs 2 kind of tests: Performance Counter and SNMP Get. Performance Counter tests work fine while SNMP Get requests to the SAME SYSTEM return "Time out" error. Right?
H'm.. looks like some problem with SNMP agent. What system(s) you are checking? OS? Service Pack? What timeout have you specified for SNMP Get test (Test Properties dialog)?

yes, but I have one server where HM agent check just SNMP get test no perfomance counters.

All server on Win 2003 server US sp1 and I have specified 6000 for test timeout
You get errors from RMA on regular basis or it appears sometimes?
Could it be network problems? E.g. SNMP device is not responding or unreachable because of network problem? In such case you may ping target system before performing SNMP tests.
Nadir wrote:It appears sometimes and some ping test reply no answer
So, if agent could not ping target system, thus it could not perform SNMP test. Looks like connection problem in your network. I would suggest you
to define ping test as master for SNMP tests. http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/mfra ... htm#Master
In such case HostMonitor will perform SNMP test only if ping test will be performed successfully (notice Synchronize status & alerts!).
Nadir wrote:maybe HM agent could't execute all test?
No, I do not think so. HM and RM agents are designed to perform huge amounts of test at once.
