Multiple email address failing.

Post by djheath »

Following on from my previous post about trying to set HM to send emails to a SMS forwarder, I have got the system working but still not 100%.

I can send one email to address 07799******@esendex.net fine. I can change this number to 0771423****@esendex.net and that email/SMS gets sent fine. If, however, I put both addresses together like:
07799*****@esendex;0771423****@esendex.net
then both messages dont arrive. They dont fail and there is no error in the HM log.

I have tried to separate both addresses with a comma as well as a semi-colon and both times they fail.

one other strange thing though is, I set HM to send two separate emails. Rather than sending to two addresses separted by a comma etc, I set HM to send to email alerts to each address. Thinking this would work, this failed too.

I dont understand why? Is it HM and they way its parsing the mail messages?

Any help would be great.

Did you set up System Log to "record info about failed action"? Could you ensure you have set it up onto Options > Advanced Logs page, section "System Log". Also you may check "Record info about successful action" in. Thus you are able to view full information about both successful and failed actions in system log.

Quote from manual:
More than one destination addresses separating with a semicolon ;

Comma is not applicable in such case.

If HM did not log any records, you should try to review your Mail Server log.

More likely it is the way how your mail server works.
Every time HostMonitor tries to send e-mail, it shows popup window with information about HostMonitor <-> Mail server communications. Please check that log.
If mail server accepts the mail but message does not arrive, check mail server settings, spam filter settings, etc
