We are starting to see some strange behavior with Hostmon. Errors are being logged in the Application Event Log:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: hostmon.exe
Event Category: None
Event ID: 0
Date: 5/2/2006
Time: 11:17:19 AM
User: N/A
Computer: SQLMONITOR1
Description:
The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( hostmon.exe ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Access violation at address 005778C2 in module 'hostmon.exe'. Read of address FFFFFFFF.
Also, I/O activity is maxed out on the server and not all events related to monitoring of job failures is being logged to the HMLog table.
This issue is a critical issue for our business and we need to figure out what is going on ASAP. Any assistance would be appreciated.
HostMon Errors
As usually 1st question is - What version of HostMonitor do you use?
- What Windows do you use?
- Service Pack?
- Do you use ODBC logging or ODBC Quuery test method? If yes, what ODBC driver do you use?
- Do you have installed antivirus monitor? Personal firewall? Content monitoring software? Non-standard winsock components? Network packet analyzer?
Regards
Alex

We are using the ODBC Logging and are using the standard SQL ODBC driver.
We have no content monitoring software, no non-standard winsock components or network packet analyzer.
