NT Event Viewer and acknowledgement

I'm attempting to have HostMonitor look at NT Events. What I would like to setup is when a "bad" event occurs, I want the test to fail continously until it is acknowledged and have various steps of communication escalation based on the amout of time (or number of failures). Once acknowledged, I would like Host Monitor to continue on. Is this possible?
