Event Log Monitor

Post by B33rRat »

I'm having some troubles with Event log monitoring. I've seen some errors get alerts. All was well. My EDI guys loved me until this last weekend. I missed a crital event. Here's my setup.

My Monitor polls every 30 seconds:
Application Log
Bad Event Must Satisfy:
Any from the following - server name
Event Type - Error
Event ID - Any
Description contains - Any String from the list the receive function
Report about all "bad" events

My Alert Profile:
Start when 1 Consecutive "bad" result occurs
Repeat 1 time

It didn't pick up on several errors. The actual text in the log included The recieve function. Does my test have to be exact - capitalization? I was just wondering if this was my error, or if Hostmonitor is less than 100% accurate with this type of monitoring.

Thanks
Pete

Yes, comparison is case sensitive.

If you want to receive messages (alerts) about all "bad" events, you should change alert settings - use "Repeat until status changes" option.
