Sometimes Hostmonitor hangs and the hostmonitor.exe process spent 100% CPU. No more Tests are performed and i have to kill the proccess. The Syslog and Logfiles contain only Entries from the last success executed Test.
I suppose there is a Problem with one Test, but i can´t discover wich Test is currently running.
Is there a way to Debug the last started Test in hostmonitor?
Can i run an action before a test will execute?
I can i find out, the next test?
Hostmonitor 4.70
Windows 2000 SP4
150 mixed Tests (Scripting, SQL-Query, TCP, Performance etc.)
Hostmonitor hangs, 100% CPU utilisation
No, HostMonitor can record information after test is performed. Not before. Is there a way to Debug the last started Test in hostmonitor?

Do you have some antivirus monitor or personal firewall installed on your system? Particularly Norton Antivirus Monitor or McAfee? NAV monitoring module often causes problems, while scanner module works fine.
Also, could you try to disable ODBC Query tests and ODBC logging? May be some ODBC driver doesn't work correctly....

100% CPU usage
Hi
I think I have the same problem. From time to time (sometimes it happens each 2 days sometimes there is 2 weeks break) some ODBC tests hang and service hostmon.exe taking up 100% cpu usage. It is a serious problem because it make server slow and other tests are performed with problems (I mean with delay).
Do you have any idea how to solve this problem?
HostMon works on Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition Service Pack 1,
Hardware: Intel Xeon 3,06 GHz 2GB RAM
ODBC Driver: OraClient 10g_home1
HostMon ver: 5.30
AntyVirus 9.0.0.338

What can I say? We cannot fix ODBC driver, its not our product. You should ask Oracle.
But 1st we should be sure problem relates to the driver. "ODBC tests hang".. do you mean test item stays in "Checking" status for a long time? How long? Do you use ODBC logging as well? The same ODBC driver?

Hi

On server where HM is running also is instaled Symantec AntiVirus
I wonder if there is a way supported by HM to restart or turn off test when it is checking too long. I try to avoid hanging hostmon.exe

Exactly, ODBC tests stay at checking status all a time till I kill hostmon.exe process."ODBC tests hang".. do you mean test item stays in "Checking" status for a long time? How long?
(If I understand correctly) I chceck on server side and "sql trace" has "false" value.Do you use ODBC logging as well? The same ODBC driver?
I hope my company will buy new version soonPretty old version. Latest version is 6.24

Then we really have some problem within ODBC driver or ODBC managerExactly, ODBC tests stay at checking status all a time till I kill hostmon.exe process

Actually I was thinking about HostMonitor's ODBC logging. If you record test results into ODBC data source (not a regular file), such problem may hung entire application.(If I understand correctly) I chceck on server side and "sql trace" has "false" value.
I think its not Symantec fault. Norton Antivirus usually leads to problems with SMTP checks and send E-Mail action. On server where HM is running also is instaled Symantec AntiVirus
HostMonitor checks for hunged threads and should set Unknown status and display Timeout error after 15 min. But its not perfect solution. We need to fix real problem. Will check google and oracle, may be find some solution...I wonder if there is a way supported by HM to restart or turn off test when it is checking too long. I try to avoid hanging hostmon.exe

Not a problem for HostMonitor. And should not be a problem for ODBC driver.Maybe the problem is that HM performs too many tests in the same time?!?
6 tests at 23:56
7 tests at 23:57
7 tests at 23:58
and 1 at every 5 minutes
Not exactly. I was talking about the following options http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/mfra ... ns.htm#LogPS. ODBC Logging is marked area??
