RMA error 301: address violation...
RMA error 301: address violation...
I am using HM 4.86. I have a Windows 2000 sp4 server with RMA agent 2.02 installed. I can create any test, except a test for Process. When I try to select a Process in the drop down selection box, I receive this error:
Error 301: Access violation at address 0046851B in module "rma.exe'. Read of address 00A44010.
I have tried upgrading the agent to 3.0, but still get the same error.
Any ideas what might be causing the problem?

We have several Windows 2000 SP4 systems with latest security pathces installed. I cannot reproduce such problem...
I have checked address where exception appears, that code is not used by agent. Most likelly real error is somewhere else.
What if you type name of the process manually? Test will be performed without error?

I have tried just typing in the process name, but then the test returns this status "RMA: Cannont read data".
Also I noticed when checking the error log that the second address changes over time. The log listed these various address values:
00CB4010, 00CB4004, 00CB8010, 00CB8020, 00CC8010, 00CD0010, 00CB8020, 00CB4008, 00A48010, & 00A44010

I am not very familar with performance counter tests, but I was able to try a few of the performance counter tests on this server and they worked fine. When I tried to do a Process test using Performance Counter it returned an error.
This is the error message:
Error: 301
Error: The specified object is not found on the system.
I found a second server that is running the same process and tried doing the same process test and it worked fine on the second server.

Could you download Extensible Performance Counter List utlity (available at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... layLang=en) and check is "PerfProc" counters enabled. If DLL is disabled, turn it on.
If this will not help, I think perfproc.dll (or some DLL that is used by perfproc.dll) is damaged. Try to reinstall Windows or at least copy this DLL from another system
