can I have a new way of doing this?

Post by hmo »

Hi Alex!

I through in a huge bomb now! :D

On daily basis our techies are sitting on top of each other to get
"time" and "info" from Hostmonitor console. Typically info is going
together with minor changes in Hostmonitor... Can You guess what
by big Q is?

Would'nt it be nice to have Hostmontor run as engine and de-centralize
clients working up to it? In that way many ppl. can work with HostMonitor at the same time... users could make their own choice of displays - ie. what part of the monitoring services they would see or not.

I know... it would'nt be possible with the current programming-level of Hostmonitor... but I had to ask! :P

Cheers,

Yes, we think about distributed monitoring system. I just not sure it will be Advanced Host Monitor 5 or it will be implemented as separate package (it will be more flexible but more complicated solution. Good for huge companies, not good for small one)

U R right about that!

Huge... networks/installations would love it... on the other hand, even small installations would gain from this as well. I'we been doing a little "search" on this matter. Many "monitor systems" doing distributed, ie. "master/server" and clients by small footprint application or web-interface.

Untill now I have *NOT* found a "monitor system" that is flexible, easy usage and low-priced... not even a system that can do what HostMonitor can do! Hostmonitor is...in fact a very feature-filled system.

Would it be hard to change HostMonitor in to server/client?

Should you decide not to have time off during the next 500 days, it might
move even closer to the 05/2005, right? (LOL)

On the other hand... hop in.. and fly over to

You'll even have our "dream-seat" right in
the mittle of our Datacenter (hot-spot) with
neon-lights on top saying: Guest of honor!
