For one - it would be more complete test of SMTP server itself (as there are many servers that are rejecting mail late in the process)
However the main reason is because AHM is perfectly capable of doing so without me, jumping through hoops, and sending one using external program (blat in this case)
See, I have created SMTP to IMAP check using two AHM tests. First test send's out a message to the SMTP server (using blat). Second message tests if new message arrived by comparing the number of messages on current and on previous check.
It would also work for me if I had a the way to use custom mailer settings from withing Action profile, if that's easier to implement.
