Import and Export Questions

Post by pmwither »

I have several questions about the import/export capabilities.

I am running version 4.30.

On another post, you mentioned that you were expecting to implement the ability to create folders with an import or other automated method rather than having to create them manually. Has this been implemented?

I need to add the username/password to nearly all of the tests I currently have setup... 261 so far. I would like to be able to add this username & password to the tests, then use import to update the existing tests. Is this possible? Is there an easier way to do this rather than manually editing each individual test?

The only way I have found to do this so far is like this:
Export the list of tests to a text file
Modify the text file with the updates
Uncomment the folders line for each group
Create a new TestList in HostMon
Manually recreate the folders
Import the text file

Is this how this is designed to work? Is there an easier way to modify all of the tests?

Also, it would be wonderful if we could import/export using either .csv files or some other format that could be easily manipulated using spreadsheets or column formats.

Thanks for your help! HostMon is a great product!

Looks like you need HostMonitor version 4.40 that will be available soon.
In this version:
1) Import function allows you to create folders
2) Import function has several modes: AddTest, ReplaceTest, ModifyTest
3) You will not need to import function at all. Because this version has Connection Manager that stores accounts and passwords

BTW you may change passwords using Telnet Service or HMScript (use SetTestParam or ReplaceTestParam command). It work in version 4.30

The first thing I thought about was: Yes, HM is going to control passwords in the near future! Am I right ?
