UDP test dosen´t fail on timeout

Post by totte »

Hi,

I have a UDP test that sends an packet and our applicaiton returns an answer. I have set the timeout to 1 sec.

I still get reply values >2000 ms with status ok.

test is executed by hostmonitor, and retreies is set to 1

Hostmonitor version 11.96

Test performed by HostMonitor or RMA agent?
Windows? Service Pack?

Could you export test settings and send to support@ks-soft.net?
(menu File ->Export to text file -> selected test ...)

As we see test works correctly but it shows total test time - in your case DNS request to DNS server in order to resolve your.server.host.name + UDP request to target server.
So it could be 1500ms for DNS request + 500ms to target server.
500ms<1000ms so HostMonitor did not set Bad status.

If you want to check exact time for single request, then I would suggest to use IP address instead of hostname

How exactly would using IP address help check the exact time for single request, Alex? That sounds like exactly what I need.

It will not count DNS server request time because HM will have IP address.
